Steve McCurry
For over three decades, sixty-two McCurry has traveled the streets of the world as a documentary photographer in the most problematic areas of the world, obtaining numerous awards for his work. His photographic account of the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan earned him international fame. Among the many crises that it has covered, we note the Iran-Iraq War, the Gulf War and the wars in the former Yugoslavia, as well as reports from Lebanon, Tibet, Yemen and Cambodia. His most famous photograph is almost certainly the “Afghan Girl” Sharbat Gula, taken in 1984 in a refugee camp. Since 1986, Steve McCurry is part of the famous Magnum photo agency.
