Indian ceremony on Como Lake: wedding at Villa Erba
Maurizio and Ayshwarya are an Italian-Indian couple who chose Italy to celebrate their wedding and precisely Villa Erba on Lake Como. The day before the Hindu ceremony, Maurizio and Ayshwarya also organized the Sangeet party, the pre-wedding party of Indian tradition at the Sheraton hotel. After finishing the Mehndi ritual and putting on make-up, the future bride joined Maurizio in the garden of the hotel where everything was decorated for the party. To the rhythm of music, they were greeted by their guests, moved at their sight. After a quick dinner, the dances began under rows of lights. It was great to see them dance and move with those colorful clothes: different cultures were now coming together. The next day was the big day. Ayshwarya got dressed with her bridesmaids who helped her with the many details and jewels at the Sheraton hotel. Maurizio at Villa Erba, also surrounded by the affection of his friends, was helped by his parents to wear the traditional Indian sari. Aysha wore red skirt and bodice, Maurizio a white sari. The ceremony was staged on a terrace overlooking the lake on a late morning at the end of August. The first to enter the ceremony was Maurizio accompanied by Indian songs and dances. After that it was the turn of Aysha and her family. The wedding was full of significant moments, symbols and characteristic colors. Suddenly we were projected into their tradition. After the ceremony, the bride and groom followed us for some photos in those traditional dresses. After a short afternoon break we met up with the couple for the boat photo shoot. The light had gone down and was reflected in the lake water creating beautiful effects. Upon returning, the newlyweds joined their guests for an aperitif in the garden in front of the villa and after a group photo we moved to the internal room for the dinner. We went out for the cake cutting and saw the fires projected against the background of the lake. Then the couple went down hand in hand from a staircase for their first dance under the enchanted gaze of their guests. Other dances were about to begin on that magical late summer night.
